About Brass Bowl

Published by George

The Brass Bowl came about one afternoon after work as I unloaded my pockets into a bowl that I have on my dresser. All sorts of stuff was sitting there, and I thought it was, in one way, a representative of my day. No, it wasn’t sexy or glamorous. In fact, most days it wasn’t even exciting. But it was a snapshot of my day.

So, armed with a old digital camera, and a need to walk off my holiday feasting, I have taken to strolling through the streets of Tampa, Florida, to exercise and take pictures and notes of what goes on in my day. Call it ego stroking, or just plain dumb, I don’t care. I set up this site more as a experiment. If others have similar items they wish to contribute, I will set up accounts for them. You can email your requests for an account to sanitybrassbowl@hotmail.com (remove sanity to reply)

Look for something each weekday, Monday through Friday. I won’t promise anything other than something.

And just because I can, here is a closeup of the bowl. Click on the thumbnail to open the full image.

Time to expand on this, I guess.   Like many things on the interweb (a series of tubes, according to Screaming Fuzzy Dave), this site was set up on a late night lark.  But the concept is sound.  All around us are things that we look at but don’t see.  We are so caught up in the “happening world” (google  John Brunner and Stand on Zanzibar) that we miss the borders of our vision.  The patina of the recent past, the messages that are left for us to read.  I can’t show all of them, or guarantee that I can even showcase any of them.  But I will. when the vision is enabled, do my best.  I don’t know when or where that will be.  It is up to each of you to decide.   It may be cheesy or breezy, or none of the above.  Like life, there are no guarantee’s.  Only flotsam.

    George,

I had a dream about a brass bowl and a hourglass. They were thrown out of a boat. So anyway I googgled it and was led to this site. The wierd thing is that I am contemplating moving to MacDill.

    Wierd stuff.

    Ben,

It gets weirder. I ‘m a native of Tampa Bay, but spent twenty years in the Air Force. My last PCS was to MacDill and I retired out of there. If you look at the coin in the picture of the bowl, you will see it is a SOCOM coin.
