Downtown Art: Dances of the Wind, by Gus Ocamposilva

Published by under Bowl

This colorful sculpture is located on the north east corner of the intersection of Franklin Street and Royal St.

Mr Ocamposilva has another piece downtown that we showed here.

His colorful and balanced pieces add significantly to the  flavor of downtown.

Hotel Floridan: Sneak Peak

Published by under Bowl

On one of the warmer days this month, I happened by the Hotel Floridan, and took a peek in the door along Florida Ave.  Construction is still ongoing, but at a much slower pace than before.

The glass on the door is dirty and there are really bad reflections from the sun behind me.  Even with that, some of the grandeur still shines through.

Frozen Flotsam: 25 degrees this morning.

Published by under Bowl

It was COLD this morning at Casa Brass Bowl.

I don’t know if the grass will stay green much longer….

The top portion of my little L.L. Bean thermometer is the time, which show’s 5:35 AM.  The middle entry is the free air temp, which is indicating 25.1 F. (The bottom line is the readout from the remote unit, which quit working about a year ago.)

Downtown Art: Finding Strength by James Oleson, Jr.

Published by under Bowl

This extraordinary work can be found on the corner of Ashley Drive and Zack Street, right across the street from the Tampa Museum of Art.  (It’s on the same building lot as Five Guys.)

The placque is in error on the sculptors name.  You can find more at James Oleson’s website, www.artandsculture.com
