Articulated Columns, by Jack King

Published by under Bowl

This double sculpture is located on the west side of Franklin Street, just a little north of Cass Street.

This picture does not do credit to the pieces.  There is an incredible amount of detail in this artwork.  I recommend you view this with your own Mark 1′s (eyes).

The website listed on the placard is incorrect.  The correct website is http://www.jackking.net.

Flatwoods Controlled Burn

Published by under Bowl

On July 22, 2010, there was a controlled burn at Flatwoods Park in Hillsborough County.  On July 27, five days later, we stumbled upon a section of land that was involved in the burn and took this picture.

Nine days later, on Aug 5, 2010, we took another picture of the same location.

We missed a couple of weeks, but on August 31, 2010, 35 days after the burn, we took this picture;

And finally, on September 21, 2010, almost two months after the burn, we snapped this one;

You can see how the area recovers quite quickly during the summer months, mimcking the lightning induced burns caused by nature.

Downtown Art: Family Ladder by Bradley Arthur

Published by under Bowl

This original sculpture by Bradley Arthur is located on the north west corner of the intersection of Franklin and Royal, right in front of the Fly Bar and Restaurant.

I think there is a lot going on here, but  I can’t get my impressions to jell tonight.

Perhaps some of you could share your views on this?

Downtown Art: Magic Rain by Gus Ocamposilva

Published by under Bowl

The Art Gnomes have been moving things around downtown.  And the weather has finally gotten cool enough to venture forth without heat stroke.

This piece is located on the east side of New City Hall, on Franklin St.
