D/U Boxes get a facelift

Published by George under Bowl

These are metal boxes along the sidewalk.  I call them D/U boxes (Distribution Units) from my maintenance days.  The facelift is no paint, but a large sticker that is applied to the box. You can see where the same sticker was applied 180 degrees on two different boxes.   I will be interested to see how long they last.  They do add a splash of color to an otherwise utilitarian piece of equipment.

N2A – Spirit of Innovation (Goodyear Blimp)

Published by George under Bowl

I’ve been seeing both the Spirit of Innovation and the Direct TV blimps meandering around Tampa this week.  I don’t have a decent shot of the Direct TV, and this one of the Goodyear blimp isn’t the greatest but it is the best to date.

Art in the Park

Published by George under Bowl

This is probably the best of the pack, so far.  The colors give a nice contrast to the greens of Gaslight Park.

Art with Briefcase

Published by George under Bowl

This is on the North East corner of the Park Tower, at the intersection of Madison and Tampa Streets.  Once again, it’s Dress Up the Town for SuperBowl.  Downtown is starting to look just a tad ridiculous.  Wait till you see the D/U boxes…..

Balance Walker

Published by George under Bowl

I don’t know what the artist calls this, as again, there is not a title posted with this sculpture, nor is the artist listed.  So we get to make up our own interpretation of the piece.  Which is good, because it does not prejudice our appreciation of the work.  This is located on the grounds of the Franklin Exchange, the same site as Mona Lisard .  Again, this appears to be part of Dress The Town Up for SuperBowl program.
