Perfect Timing, Not!

Published by George under Uncategorized

Tommy of Sticks of Fire gave a great plug for the Brass Bowl last week.  He said some very kind words, and I thank him greatly.  Also, Tommy and John F have undertaken a revamp of TampaBLAB, which has generated more interest in the Brass Bowl.

Just great news, courtesy of some great people who have been part of the Tampa blogging community for many years.  Honestly, a big “Thanks”.

So why haven’t I been posting?  Life, it seems, have a large satchel full of irony it drags around.   The Brass Bowl got a couple of handfuls on Monday when Pepper,  my wife, suffered a minor medical emergency.  Minor in that she was not immediately seen by the ER doctors, but enough of a emergency that she was admitted to the hospital, and is ill enough that all of my time has been dedicated to her.  The long term prognosis is good, but there are some short term (and lifestyle) changes that need to be made.   So, sadly, I have had to ignore this blog after some really nice people have made such a generous gesture of support.  Please understand that I am not abandoning the Brass Bowl, but set it aside while I work on this less than tasty plate of irony life has dealt.

If you are new to the Brass Bowl, the posts go back to March of this year, 2008.  Photos of all sorts of things that I have noticed, or people have pointed out to me.  You can view them by selecting the “Looking Back” drop down menu.  Once you pick a month, you can browse by clicking on the day in the calendar on the left.  Underline dates are links to posts.

I will post as conditions allow.  But if nothing new shows up for a week or so, don’t think I’ve quit.  I’ve just got a fork stuck in a life salad, and the croutons are quite stale.

Monday’s

Mondays always mean scurrying around with a two day backlog.  Like ants building a mound.

Cass Street Railroad Bridge

Published by George under Bowl

I have never seen this bridge used by a train.  It looks horrible, and the office theory is that is stuck in the up position.  Then, I was on the Kennedy Street bridge, checking the river for flotsam, when I heard a train horn, and saw this bridge s-l-o-w-l-y raising back up.  The train had come and gone, but here is proof that the bridge is not stuck in the up position.
