Jody’s Trace

Published by George under Bowl

Jody’s Trace is a leg of The Yearling Trail which is located in Ocala National Forest.  The trail is named for the book, The Yearling, as most of the events are set along the trail.  The author,  Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, lived in the area and fell in love with the land, writing and filling her books with the bits and pieces of life in the backwoods of Florida during the early times.  The trail offers a  glimpse into the physical world of that era (1900) in central Florida.  It is easily hiked in a few hours, along with lots of other trails in the “Forest”.
