Brass Bowl

Located on the grounds of the Henry Plant Museum, this bronze sculpture is reported to be a representation of two of Henry Plants favorite hunting dogs.  Cast in France by Maurice Denonvilliers in 1890, they originally were set up looking at a matching bronze squirrel hung on a tree limb.  The squirrel was stolen on date unknown to me, and the hounds were relocated to their current location near the entrance to the museum.  Beneath the dogs is the inscription ” Au Coup de Fusil” which has been relayed to me as the Hunting Party.

In any event, I think these dogs look pretty good for 826 years old.
