Today is Good Friday, so I present to you some sidewalk art I saw a few weeks ago in the pedestrian mall by the Verizon Building, sort of an extension to Franklin Street Mall. We cut through this to get to Hattricks for lunch.
Anyway, I don’t know who the author is. I don’t know what, if any, the title is. I just know that I like it. I am thankful to whomever did this . If anybody knows anything about the author, please send me a note at sanitybrassbowl@hotmail.com (remove sanity to reply).

Here is one of the “things” you have to look out for on the city street. As you can see, I clearly have the light for the crosswalk. But that isn’t good enough for Mr. Gotrocks in his Escalade on his cell phone. He needs the road AND the crosswalk, because he is TOO FLIPPING IMPORTANT to wait on ANYBODY ELSE.
This is a Butthead. Be Wary. Usually found in pretentious vehicles, usually gas hogs (SUV), ignoring laws and putting others are risk. Routinely has a cell phone glued to ear, while sending email on Crackberry and attempting to drive. Extremely selfish and vain. Do not attempt to educate, this lower life form does not have complete gene set, missing humanity and culture chromosomes among others.
Recommended course of action: Photo and document. Post all sightings here so all Humans can recognize and avoid.

Here is a picture that may not be worth a thousand words, it is at least worthy of a few here. No less than three parking tickets are tucked under the wiper arm of this vehicle. I can see where the car is past the line in front, and of course there isn’t any time left on the meter, but I couldn’t figure out what the third one was for, unless it was the second day or something.

Here is something that I have been working on for a couple of years. It is not complete. I don’t think it will ever be “complete”, but at some point it will be done. I call it my staple sculpture. I have a auto parts bowl with a magnet on the bottom. Mechanics will recognize this immediately. You put bolts and such in this as you work on a vehicle, and it keeps all the little bits in one place.
Well, I bought it, I used it for what it was intended (new cylinder head on my truck), and then it sat on my bench. Given my propensity to utilize things in a manner that they were not originally intended, I took it to work, and started to drop the staples that I pulled from documents.
It grew. I have seen others at one of my previous cube sentences, and they were simply astounding. If you have a staple sculpture you would like to share, send it to brassbowl@hotmail.com. Be sure to include whatever name you want me to credit it to, along with any other info.

Below are two picture of my view from my work. It’s pretty neat most of the time. Especially with the air is clear. You can see all the way to Polk and Pasco counties, and across the bay to Pinellas. With a good set of binoculars, you can actually watch the people ride the roller coasters at Busch Gardens.
But with the weather turns nasty, it isn’t so good. I don’t like being up so high during a storm. The power has known to go out, and the idea of walking down twenty plus floors does not fill me with joy. But we do what we have to. There are quite a few more tall buildings in Tampa. I’m sure that there are others that have feelings close to what I do.

In Jan of 2005, we were all shown drawings of the next great Trump project. Laced with amenities, and conceived with nothing held back (or so we thought), Trump Tower Tampa was to be the premier condo in Tampa. 52 stories, 190 condos, the tallest building on the west coast of Florida. It was gonna be the Next Big Thing for Tampa. Read a article from the St. Pete Times HERE.
Well, it’s three years later, one year after the proposed opening. Now I can understand that construction projects of this scale can have opening with delays, but take a look at the pictures below, taken on Feb 20, and tell me if you think that old Donald has really put his money where his name is.
